The Directorate brings together lawyers and economists across its two divisions.
Investigations and litigation
Control of anti-competitive practices by undertakings and Member States, merger control, assessment of the compatibility of public aid and conduct of investigation procedures in contentious cases.
Legislation and case monitoring
Drafting implementing texts, assessing draft legislation likely to affect competition, keeping the competition and public aid registers, capacity building and international cooperation.
A distinctive feature: the oath
Officials who carry out inspections at undertakings are mandated by decision of the President of the Commission and take an oath before the Union’s Court of Justice before taking up their duties. They are bound by professional secrecy.
Beware of recruitment fraud
The UEMOA Commission never asks for payment at any stage of its recruitment procedures. Any request for fees made in the Commission’s name is fraudulent and should be reported.
