ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON COMPETITION

The Committee’s 28th ordinary session is being held in Lomé from 19 to 23 June 2023.

The opening of the proceedings on 19 June 2023 was chaired by Koffi Vinyon MENSAH, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Trade, Industry and Local Consumption of Togo, in the presence of Commissioner Filiga Michel SAWADOGO, in charge of the Department of Regional Market and Cooperation.

The meeting will enable participants to adopt the opinions and recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Competition.

During this session, the Commission will seek the opinions of the members of the Advisory Committee on Competition on draft competition decisions concerning:

  • the mobile money sector in Côte d’Ivoire;
  • the distribution of proprietary pharmaceutical products in Burkina Faso;
  • practices identified in the award of a sub-licence to broadcast the FIFA World Cup (Qatar 2022) in Senegal.

The Advisory Committee on Competition was established by Article 28.3 of Regulation No. 03/2002/CM/UEMOA of 23 May 2002 on the procedures applicable to anti-competitive agreements and abuses of dominant position within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). Its role is to give the Commission its opinion before any decision on competition matters is taken.
